Iva Ungs, 84, of Dyersville and formerly of Luxemburg and Monticello passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023, at MercyOne Senior Care in Dyersville. Survivors include six children, Bill (Jane) Sullivan of Oakdale, MN Julie Houselog of Dubuque Linda Sullivan of Glendale, AZ Mike (Cheri) Sullivan of Land O’ Lakes, FL Danny (Laurie) Sullivan of Dubuque and Patti (Martin) Sanchez of Dubuque 16 grandchildren, Mandy Curtis, Jake Sullivan, Nick (Crystal) Sullivan, Whitney Houselog, Mckinzi Houselog, Chad Seymour, Katie (Josh) Grove, Taylor (Mike) Noto, Michael (Maddie) Sullivan, Brendan (Michelle) Sullivan, Bradley (Brittany) Dodds, Brooke (Jesse) Stumbaugh, Ali Althoff, Matt (Ashley) Sanchez, Hayley (Nate) Foley, Lindsay Axtell 43 great-grandchildren several nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law.īesides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, John, Steve and Bill and sister, Georgia.Ī photo tribute can be viewed and condolences sent to the family by visiting Rita’s obituary at Iva Ungs She especially loved being a wife and mom and hearing all about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, watching Hallmark movies, crossword puzzles, baking and playing bridge. Rita belonged to the Prayer Chain, Mothers Club and Bridge Clubs. She was a housewife, taking great care of her family. Rita graduated from Dubuque Senior High School, top of her class in 1952. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2016. On September 17, 1955, she married Byron L. Rita was born June 8, 1934, in Dubuque, the daughter of Peter and Mary Diamond Petrakis. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Dubuque. The Mass of Christian Burial for Rita will be 10:30 am Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Church of the Resurrection with Father Phil Gibbs as the Celebrant. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm where there will be a prayer service at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory. Sullivan, 89, of Dubuque, died Sunday, October 15, 2023, at MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center in Dubuque, surrounded by her family. Online condolences may be shared with Mary’s family at Rita A. Her humble outlook, combined with a contagious sense of humor made many days so much brighter than they may have appeared from the outside. Mary and Rodney always enjoyed a good card game, and a relaxing picnic in the park whenever possible, but ultimately, simply facing each day together was a perfect day in Mary’s eyes. She did work at various restaurants from time to time, but her heart was always at home with her family. and the couple was blessed with a son of their own which quickly became Mary’s greatest joy in life. Mary traveled the world with her first husband as a military wife, but sadly, he would be called home much too early and life would have to be reevaluated. ![]() ![]() She was gifted with a joyful heart and a sweet spirit from an early age and proudly carried both throughout her entire life. Mary was born on September 20, 1952, in Dubuque, Iowa, a daughter to Nicholas J. The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Mary’s family. To honor Mary’s life, a private family service is being held. Huberty, age 71, of Dubuque, IA, completed her earthly journey on October 9, 2023, at Dubuque Specialty Care in Dubuque while surrounded by her loving family.
